Tourism Jobs For The Summer Season

If you have been browsing job listings on popular websites like Backpackerboard & Trade Me recently, you will notice that there have been an increase in the amount of job adverts for staff for the upcoming summer season.

The summer season in New Zealand tends to kick off towards the end of October/November through to Feb/March.

Generally businesses that cater to the influx of tourists over the summer months will be hiring extra staff. These include camping grounds, hotels, backpackers, cafes, bars, restaurants and activity providers like sea kayaking, boat cruises and guided hikes.

Examples of opportunities advertised over the past few weeks include:

  • Cruise Crew positions advertised by Go Orange (a new cruise operator in Milford Sounds)
  • Kayak & Walk Guides in Marlborough with Wilderness Guides
  • Glacier Guides needed in Franz Josef
  • Staff for German sausage food truck and market stalls in Auckland
  • Reservations Clerk in Waitomo for Black Water Rafting Company
  • Food & beverage staff at Skyline Gondola in Queenstown

So now is a great time to think about where you want to spend the summer months and grab the opportunity to work in the great outdoors and indoors of New Zealand.
